Merit - The Woman We honor the spirit of Merit Kimball. Merit worked tirelessly for health care reform in the United States - ensuring that quality health care is available to anyone that needs it. Merit died of breast cancer at the too-young age of 39, after a three year struggle to beat it. In 1996, shortly before her death, she told her story and introduced President Clinton at the signing of the Health Care Reform Act. It was a peak moment for her.
